The challenge

Design methods for centrifugal fans with spiral housings need to be checked against the predicted airflow, pressure distribution and efficiency.

Contribution

The study combined theoretical fan calculations, three-dimensional modeling and ANSYS CFD analysis.

Approach

Geometry was built from theoretical design calculations. Numerical performance curves and efficiency predictions were compared with the corresponding analytical characteristics across operating conditions.

Results

The comparison provided a basis for evaluating the reliability of the design methods and understanding differences between theoretical and numerical fan performance.
