The challenge

Pricing glycol heat exchange systems requires coordinated hydraulic calculations, component selection and current material and labor costs.

Contribution

An application was developed to select system components and estimate costs from technical specifications and a company pricing database.

Approach

Inputs include fluid, flow rate, heat exchanger resistance and volume, piping material and system configuration. Calculations cover pipe sizing, velocity, Reynolds number and pressure losses, followed by pump, valve and expansion-tank selection.

Results

The software combines component and installation costs and produces PDF reports containing the selected equipment, performance parameters and cost breakdown.
