The challenge
Maintaining constant airflow requires a reliable estimate of flow as operating conditions change and pressure signals fluctuate.
Contribution
A pressure-based measurement and control system was developed, including sensor selection, signal smoothing and calibration of the flow coefficient.
Approach
The system used total pressure at the fan and static pressure inside the recuperator to estimate flow from the pressure difference and air density. Each unit was tested across operating points to determine its calibration coefficient.
Results
Testing verified sensor response, signal stability and calibration across multiple units, supporting consistent airflow regulation in the recuperators.
